Hey there, I'm Brooklynn, your go-to girl for Postpartum services and new client intake here at Labor in the Land! In the years that I have worked as a Career Nanny, I have seen firsthand the importance, and unfortunately, the lack of familiar, ongoing support for families, especially when close friends and family aren't nearby. That's why I helped start Labor in the Land! I'm all about learning and anticipating your needs, forming meaningful connections, and providing emotional support during this special time. I specialize in newborn care and postpartum support, specifically for families with previous children, LGBTQIA+ families, and those at risk for postpartum mental illness. Working alongside Kade and Susan, we're here to help you feel seen and understood through this journey, and empower your family with a little guidance and a lot of encouragement!

Hi! I'm Kade, just one of our incredible labor and birth Doulas at Labor in the Land LLC. I am from a small town in Georgia and I am excited to bring my knowledge, care, and support to Cleveland! I began as a career nanny and fell in love with working in private family care amongst diverse families. In the years of being a career nanny, I began to notice a gap in LGBTQIA+ family care. As a Transgender male I believe representation and support is extremely important for our minority communities. That's why I co-founded Labor in the Land! I strive to create a space for families to grow, thrive, and shine through an informative, compassionate, and empathetic approach.  I specialize in Labor and birth care, long-term nanny care, and working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. We are so appreciative for your consideration in Labor in the Land and we hope to be able to provide your family with the supportive care you are looking for!

Hello there! I'm Susan, a birth Doula and childcare provider at Labor in the Land. With a big heart for kids that started in my own childhood helping raise my 11 siblings, my journey led me to supervise child protective services and bring two wonderful kids of my own into the world. Most recently, I have owned and operated my home daycare, which has truly been my pride and joy, while raising my kids through adulthood. Now, I'm thrilled to bring my mix of personal and professional experiences to caring for families like yours! I specialize in working for families with multiple children and those who have experienced fetal loss, but I am excited to support families on all different kinds of journeys. Alongside my daughter Brooklynn and my son-in-law Kade, we can't wait to share our passion and love with you and your family. Let's make your journey special together!

Our Background

As a family, we understand that there is nothing more important to you than yours.  It is with this understanding that we want to assure you of our commitment and ability to providing the support and care that you and your newborns, and children deserve. To offer a more comprehensive view of our background, experience, and education, we would like to share with you the following information.

Susan's journey in caring for infants and children dates back to her childhood, where she assisted in caring for her 11 siblings. This early experience cultivated her love for children, which she carried with her to Tiffin University, where she graduated with a degree in Criminal Justice in 1995. Subsequently, she served as the Supervisor of Children’s Services in Sandusky, Ohio for a number of years. Transitioning to a role at home to care for her own children, she also worked part-time conducting newborn hearing screens at Cleveland Clinic Fairview. In addition, Susan has operated an in-home daycare for over 15 years, continuing to provide nurturing care to children aged birth to 10. After learning more about the process of becoming a doula from her daughter, she decided this was the next step in her furthering her education, and become a certified Labor and Birth Doula. She holds certifications in CPR and First Aid for both Infants and Adults from the Red Cross and is a Certified Labor and Birth Doula through Pro-Doula.

Brooklynn's journey in childcare began under the guidance of her mother, Susan, in their home daycare. At just 12 years old, she began building her own clientele through babysitting, eventually serving over 30 families and caring for more than 50 children aged birth to 12. After graduating from North Olmsted High School, she delved into full-time private nanny work for an expecting family, where she deepened her knowledge in childhood development and newborn care. Her passion for supporting growing families and newborns led her to a role as a postpartum doula, which she has been dedicated to since. In her role as a nanny and doula, Brooklynn has furthered her education in breastfeeding support, Montessori-style care, and trauma-informed care. She holds certifications in CPR and First Aid for both Infants and Adults from the Red Cross and is a Certified Postpartum Doula through BEST doulas.

Kade's journey in childcare was inspired by his upbringing in a close-knit southern family, where his love for working with special needs children was cultivated through caring for his cousin with Autism. Pursuing a career in this field, Kade began babysitting during his teenage years and later moved to Cleveland after graduating from High School. He has since worked as a nanny for children with Autism, honing his skills in emotional regulation, childhood development, and communication through collaboration with ABA and speech therapists. Observing Brooklynn's passion as a Postpartum Doula, Kade recognized a gap in inclusive support for LGBTQIA+ families, particularly the transgender community. Motivated by his own identity as a transgender male, he pursued certification as a Labor and Birth Doula to provide representation and support in this space. Kade continues to work with families of children with Autism while offering exceptional care to his Birth Clients. He is certified in Infant and Adult CPR and First Aid through the Red Cross and is a Certified Labor and Birth Doula through Pro-Doula.
